Lavon EDC Gateway to East Texas

Expansion of SH78 making great progress

October 5th 2014

State Highway 78, that runs through Lavon in a general southwest to northeast direction, is being transformed from a rural two land bituminous road into a 6 lane divided thoroughfare. This will ease congestions for automotive trips from/to George Bush Tollway (190) in Garland to State Highway 380 in Farmersville. The project is expected to be complete at the end of 2015 Traffic has now moved to the newly completed north bound lanes with the south bound lanes and their storm water drainage now being constructed. New sidewalks are part of the new construction as well as a new intersection with a traffic light.
