Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)

See attached the PPP application for the loan that was approved by Congress and Signed by the President that provides funds to small business for the cost of keeping employees.  You may be provided a loan for the cost between Feb 15th and June 30th, of this year, for the monthly payroll.  The loan may be forgivable if you keep your employees.  This application applies to self employed, sole proprietors, partnerships, C-Corp and S-Corp, LLC's, independent contractors, 501 (c) 3  nonprofits and veterans organizations.  The attached form is just two pages with two pages of instructions.  Complete the application, provide the documents and take it to your banker or to the local Lavon bank Independent Financial Bank for processing.    

 

Due to the COVID-19 Crisis the Lavon Economic Development Corporation is following the directive from Lavon City Council.  See the www.cityoflavon.com web site. Until further notice, City Hall and the LEDC office in City Hall are closed to the public in order to advance the public health goal of limiting face-to-face interactions (also called "social distancing"). This action is expected to slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Lavon Economic Development Corporation meetings on the 2nd Monday of each month will be a telephonic meeting. See the agenda for April 13 to be published, on this website 72 hours before the meeting.  The agenda will have dial in instructions for citizens to participate in the meeting. Small Business Loans- different types

SBA Loan - Note that Governor Abbott's requested US disaster designation for Texas. This has been granted.  Now the Small Business Administration may offer economic injury disaster loans to small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 Crisis.  For more information on the SBA disaster loans see the SBA website where a small business may apply directly 

Friday, March 27, 2020 President Trump signed in law H.R. 748 Coronavirus Relief and Economic Security Act "CARES" Act.  Within this Act are actions regarding Small Business Loans of which portions may be forgivable. We will update you as we obtain more information.  They are advising us to have you apply through your local bank for this loan with portions forgivable.

Our Economic Development Corporation serves the City of Lavon and residents. "We cultivate investment and growth!"  Major growth is before the community as Texas Highway 78 improvements, with 6 lanes, are now completed.. These improvements bring better access from eastern Collin County into the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex.  Improvements to SH 205, 4 traffic lanes, will begin in late 2020. These improvements will bring better access to Interstate 30 south of Lavon.  Major housing developments are underway with approximately 785 platted residential lots in development  and some 1,689 S-F lots entitled through the planning stages.  Active Residential Developments include Lavon Farms; Crestridge Meadows; Traditions Phase 2; LakePointe, Phase 1; Bear Creek Phase 3.

New retail in Lavon in 2019  includes the 5 Flooring & Plus, 7-Eleven Convenience Store, Lavon Pharmacy, Lavon Nail Art & Spa, Bayside Nutrition, Good Fella's Pizza, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Sawaaro Spa, St. Paul Pharmacy.  A new specialty printer, Crown Labels has arrived in Lavon, producing labels for the retail  and product identification business.  There is a new retail center planned at SH 78 and Burleson.  For a quick view of the economics of our development see this quick view link.    

Our Semi-Annual Small Business Bazaars promote the development of small businesses and entrepreneurs in Lavon.  On Saturday,  April 18, 2020  Spring Bazaar was postponed to Saturday November 14. 

Lavon Lake, being a U.S. Army Corp lake, provides a whole host of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. The City of Lavon and its Economic Development Corporation invite you to come and enjoy our lovely countryside and water recreational opportunities. 

On December 20, 2004, the Lavon City Council, following approval of the City voters, adopted the Articles of Incorporation for the Lavon Economic Development Corporation (LEDC). The LEDC was organized in accordance with the Texas Development Corporation Act of 1979 as a nonprofit corporation. The purpose of the Corporation is for development and marketing of  retail, commercial, technology and manufacturing investments that will bring new dollars and jobs to Lavon.
