Lavon is a growing community of 2,500 residents on the eastern edge of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. As a small community Lavon has land to grow and opportunities to attract major employers. To date the largest private employer in Lavon is M-Tex Industrial Supply Company being a company that handles pipes, valves and fitting supplies, hardware and handtools. M-Tex employs about 20. 

 

The Community Independent School District is the largest employer with 223 employees.

Surrounding Lavon, particularly to the west is are major complexes of higher technology, advanced manufacturing and the corporate business parks along the I 90-George Bush Tollway. In the adjoining community of Wylie there are major employers being:
